Bottle squash 'Butternut' is a traditional, slender variety that gives cream-coloured fruits. The fruits have a small seed cavity, a mild flavour and a moderate shelf life.

Sow indoors in the last 2 weeks of April and the first 2 weeks of May (do not get too wet during germination). Planting is possible from the beginning of May until mid-May (1 plant per m2). In this way the plant has enough time to ripen off the fruits, so it is preferable to pre-sow earlier rather than later. Harvesting: before frost when the leaves have withered. To be used in soups and pies. Keep dry at 10-15°C.
