Arbutus Unedo / Strawberry Tree – 10 seeds TessGruun

It is a large, green shrub/tree, with rough, brown bark and dark green, glossy leaves with a serrated edge (5 to 10cm in length).

The flowers are small, urn shaped and white. The previous year's flowers provide red, strawberry-like fruits with a rough exterior (diameter 1-2cm). They ripen over a period of about 12 months, in autumn, at the moment of the next flowering.

The fruits are edible, sweet when well red and ripe, and have a taste similar to that of figs.

Grows to a height and spread of 4 to 8m.

Fully hardy to -15°C.
