Black Pineapple, also known as Ananas Noire, is a tomato variety that originated in Belgium. The large, round, flattened, ribbed fruits grow to an average weight of 400 to 700g. They ripen to a red and (dark) green colour that can even go to brown-black at the top over a period of about 85 days.
The tomatoes have green flesh, with a red core in the middle. They have a rich, sweet taste and are used in salads and cold dishes as well as for sauces and hot preparations.
