Sweet pepper 'Westlandse lange' Bio De Bolster (1640)
Pepper 'Westlandse Lange Rode' has rather small fruits that are pungent in taste. Pepper is elongated and pointy in shape. At a young stage the fruits are green and colour to red. Suitable for drying.
Pre-sowing and planting
For a greenhouse crop you sow in March-April, for an outdoor crop you sow in April, sow in a germination container and cultivate indoors at a minimum of 20°C; the optimal germination temperature is 25°C . Germination takes quite a long time. Prick out the plants in pots and plant out in a greenhouse at the end of April-May. For outdoor cultivation, the plants can be planted out at the end of May-early June at 50 x 50 cm (for growth the soil temperature should be at least 13°C). Depending on the growing conditions you can harvest in the period July-October. Provide above-average fertilisation.
Cultivation instructions
You don't prune a pepper. The stems of the pepper are strengthened during growth with a bamboo stick, a rope on a top line for each stem, or pull a rope around a row of peppers and two poles, so that the stems rest against the rope.
Harvesting
Fruits can be picked either green or fully coloured red. Depending on the growing conditions you can harvest in the period July-October. Make sure that the fertilization is above average.

Tip: Pepper Westlandse Lange is a success every year, can grow well outdoors and produces a lot of peppers. Also pick them once they have just grown up, but are still immature/green. Then they are not sharp and taste like peppers.
