Ceylon is a type of tomato with flattened, ribbed fruits that grow in clusters of 9 to 12 to an average weight of 35 to 80g, a diameter of +/- 5 to 7cm and a height of 2.5 to 3.5cm. They ripen to a red colour with orange shoulders over a period of about 70 to 80 days. This species is quite resistant to diseases.

The fleshy tomatoes have a strong, acidic and slightly bitter taste. They are mainly used in sauces and hot dishes.
