Chives Allium schoenoprasum TessGruun

Fine chives need cold to germinate. It is a perennial herb and grows again when cut, and is also excellent in pots.  Sow from March and later thin out or plant out at 20x20 cm. The best time to sow is at a temperature between 15 and 20 degrees Celsius. Chives were used well before our era.  The leaves and flowers are very popular in various dishes because of the spicy onion taste. Best to use fresh.
