Dioscorea polystachya or Chinese yam, also called cinnamon-vine, is a species of flowering plant in the yam family. It is sometimes called Chinese potato or by its Japanese name nagaimo. A hardy perennial herbaceous plant native to China and East Asia , this vine produces edible tubers that can be cooked like potatoes. Its voluble stems climb up to 2 or 3 meters, they carry pretty heart shaped leaves strongly ribbed, shiny, decorative.
