Squash ‘Uchiki Kuri – ORGANIC De Bolster (1669)
The pumpkin variety 'Uchiki Kuri' is a Hokkaido pumpkin. The orange fruits with delicious meat are 0.8 to 2 kg in weight. They are rich in vitamins and minerals.
The best place to sow this variety is the solid, moist soil layer that is usually located at a depth of 3 to 5cm. It is also important that the soil temperature at the time of sowing and the following week is at least 18°C. Try to avoid soil that is too cold or too wet. When the temperature rises above 22°C, germination is very fast, so that fungi and bacteria have much less chance of attacking the germinating seeds.
The fruits are ready for harvest when the leaf begins to die off and when the fruit stalk begins to subside. Do not leave the fruit in the field for too long to prevent possible sunburn damage and/or fruit decay. Storage after harvesting is best at 8°C to 12°C. Always keep the fruits well ventilated during storage.
