Squash 'Groene Hokkaido' BIO De Bolster (1660)
Pumpkin 'green Hokkaido' has green fruits with yellow-orange flesh; predominantly 1.0 to 1.5 kg. The taste is delicious. Suitable for soup and various other dishes.
Good storage pumpkin with a diameter of about 25 cm. Ranking variety. Provide good fertilization.
Do not water too much during germination. Watch out for mice, because they love pumpkin seeds. Once the seeds have germinated this is no longer a problem. After approx. 3 weeks transplant outside, 1 plant per 2 m².
You can sow on the spot in June, as long as it is warm enough to ensure a smooth germination. Sow 2 seeds per sowing spot, 3 to 4 cm deep. After emergence leave one plant standing. Mice can also put soot in the food outside. You can take preventive action by placing a flowerpot upside down on the sowing spot immediately after sowing.
Remove the pots after a week! Pumpkins can have considerable tendrils, so put the tendrils back regularly on the outside of the field. Pumpkins can be harvested from mid-September; at least bring the pumpkins inside for cold nights to prevent night frost damage. Only harvest sufficiently ripe fruit; the fruit stems should be discoloured and somewhat wrinkled/ corky. Store in a dry place at temperatures that are not too low.
