AKA perennial flax, blue flax, alpine flax . Linum perenne L. Synonymes : Linum alpinum Jacq., Linum anglicum Mill., Linum extraaxillare Kit., Linum julicum Hayek . A beautiful small clump forming perennial border plant with long linear foliage, freely producing panicles of sky blue flowers from mid summer into autumn. 40 - 45cm. Best in full sun on free draining soil.
Recommended for direct sowing as the seedlings do not appreciate being disturbed / transplanted.
Sow direct to the growing location or container where they are to flower in spring, or late summer for over-wintering in southern counties.
Sow thinly on soil that has been raked to a fine tilth and cover rake in lightly 2-3mm depth. .
Thin young seedlings to 15-20 cm apart.
Best in full sun on light well drained soil.
