Lavender is a strong smelling, bushy herb. The plants like a calcareous soil. Lavender is perennial and will flower from the second year.

Sow in a container in May. Plant out in June at 50x50 cm. Blooms from the second year in July-August. Likes a calcareous soil and a sunny spot. The tolerated flowers are also used as an 'air freshener' in the linen cupboard. The plants can best be pruned back in spring to prevent the shrubs from becoming too woody.
