ZKODB1728 Radicchio Rosso ‘Leonardo F1’ – ORGANIC De Bolster (1728)

Cichorium intybus

Radicchio Rosso is originally an Italian vegetable. The leaves in the head are intensely red and white, making them very suitable for use in colourful salads. The leaves have a rather bitter taste when raw. The leaf is also very suitable for stewing and baking, and will therefore have a less bitter taste.

Sow indoors from May-June. Plants are planted in June and July. Harvesting is then possible in September, October and November. A planting distance of 30x40 cm is recommended. This variety is not suitable for growing in hot summers. Light frost tolerance. This variety prefers relatively low temperatures, and is best planted in well-drained soil with a high humus and moisture content. The heads can be kept for at least a week in the refrigerator.

Because of its dense head shape, Radicchio Rosso can be susceptible to damage from blemish and bulb rot, especially in late planting and/or prolonged periods of rain.

These seeds have a white, biologically certified coating which makes sowing easier.
