Iceberg lettuce Grazer Krauthauptel BIO De Bolster (1845)
Iceberg lettuce 'Grazer Krauthäuptel 2' (Lactuca sativa) has bright green, crisp leaves with a thin red edge. This iceberg lettuce comes from the region around the city of Graz. This variety is not sensitive to shooting.
Growing iceberg lettuce is a little more difficult than growing other varieties, but that can also be a challenge. Iceberg lettuce is on average a bit sweeter. Iceberg lettuce has a longer growth time (2 weeks) than other lettuce types. Iceberg lettuce requires good fertilization and sufficient moisture.
If you want to eat lettuce every week, you have to sow/plant it regularly. Sowing in the garden can be started from April onwards. A usual planting distance is 30x30 cm. By placing part of the lettuce a little closer together and harvesting earlier, you can suffice with 1 seed per 3 to 4 weeks.
