It is now gradually getting warmer and warmer. Spring has really started and more and more can be sown. In April the weather can suddenly turn to a lot of rain. Always choose a dry day for sowing.


SOWING APRIL OUTDOORS

Leaf & stem crops
Pre-sow: Lettuce and Spinach 'New Zealand'.
Direct sowing: Mesclun 'Pure Lettuce', Turnip greens, Arugula, Swiss chard, Spinach 'Early Giant Leaf', Cress and Garden purslane.

Cabbage crops
Pre-sow: Brussels sprouts.

Legumes
Direct sowing: Garden pea, Capuchin, Legume and Broad bean.

Fruit crops
Pre-sow: Pickle, Pepper, Pepper, Sweet corn, Tomato and Watermelon.

Root & tuber vegetables
Pre-sow: Celeriac and Celeriac 'Perfection'.
Direct sowing: Beetroot, Spring onion, Burdock root, Turnip, Turnip, Parsnip, Radish, Scorzonera, Stem onion, Onion, Carrot and Carrot Parsley.

Herbs
Pre-sow: Wormwood, Basil, Cinnamon Basil, Parsley, Sage and Thyme.
Direct sowing: Wormwood, Anise, Lemon balm, Dill, Hyssop, Caraway, Chervil, Cucumber, Coriander, Lavas, Parsley, Sage, Celery, Fennel, Watercress, Vine shoot and Garden sorrel.


SOWING APRIL INDOORS

Sprouts
Sow in seedling dish: Alfalfa, Basil cress, Broccoli cress, Chinese chives, Fenugreek, Mustard cress, Turnip greens, Radish cress 'Daikon', Red cabbage, Rucolakers, Cress and Sunflower.


APRIL CULTIVATION IN GREENHOUSE

Leaf & stem crops
Pre-sow: Celery and Lettuce.
Direct sowing: Leaf mustard, Cardoon, Mesclun, pak choi, Summer purslane, Rocket, Tatsoi and Cress.

Fruits
Pre-sow: Watermelon.

Root & tuber vegetables
Pre-sow: Celeriac.
Direct seeding: Turnip, Radish and Carrot Parsley.
